The Magic Mitre Top Tips
Video Demonstration
Basic Instructions
Firstly, we always advise you to read the Magic Mitre Instructions and Technical Specs. We also advise you check you have assembled the product correctly and fixed it to a workbench with the words MAGIC MITRE on the large black base and the workpiece holders facing you.
Ensure the longer of the two slots in the top red saw guide assembly is at the front (towards you).
Prior to setting, check to ensure the red locking screw in both pivoting workpiece holders are unlocked and are free of all waste materials and dust that might interfere or restrict the adjustment and setting of both pivoting workpiece holders.
The Template
The template pivots one way only so that it may be used to copy the exact internal or external angle of the walls or doorframes etc. You must ensure the template knob is tightened so as to prevent any further movement in the template occurring after you have used it to copy the exact angle you require.
TOP TIP - Remember the Golden Rules!
- Measure Twice
- Check
- Cut Once
Locate one arm of the template onto the top of one of the pivoting workpiece holders, then by moving the red saw guide backwards or forward the pivoting workpiece holders will pivot. This will enable the other arm of the template to engage both of the upstanding pins of the other pivoting workpiece holder.
Directly after having located the pivoting workpiece holders with the aid of the template in the desired position, the red locking screws located in both workpiece holders must be fully tightened (turn the red locking screws clockwise and fully tighten both red locking screws until such time as any further movement in both of the pivoting workpiece is prevented). (see below)
Before cutting any materials, you should always visually check to ensure you have set the Magic Mitre to the desired internal or external angle setting. This is done by looking at the angle of the corner to which you are fitting the mouldings and, then looking at the angle at which you have set the Magic Mitre product.
For example, in fitting mouldings to an internal wall angle, the pivoting workpiece holders should also be set in the internal mode (see Fig 1).
When fitting mouldings to an external wall angle, the pivoting workpiece holders should be set in the external mode (see Fig 2).
